Human Resources Professional to Cover Leave of Absence

Our client, a financial services firm in Santa Monica, seeks a contract human resources assistant for 4 month coverage.

This position provides HR support with daily tasks related to employee relations, training, benefits and performance management.

About the Job:

  • Filing
  • Maintain and update employee files
  • Maintain confidentiality of all records, conversations, documents
  • Assist with benefits administration including medical, dental, vision, flexible spending and parking
  • Answer questions related to benefits and other human resources related topics
  • Mediate conflicts
  • Coach employees and managers through issues
  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal labor laws and requirements
  • Conduct exit interviews
  • Assist with employee evaluations
  • Update job descriptions
  • Assist payroll when requested
  • Troubleshoot human resources policies and procedures
  • Draft correspondence, coordinate meetings, run invoice and expense reports, data entry
  • Maintain activity records
  • Assist with recruiting process
  • Create new hire records
  • Recruit and interview candidates
  • Schedule interviews with prospective employees
  • Screen qualified applicants
  • Obtain work history, education, training, skills and salary requirements
  • Conduct reference and background checks
  • Assist with e-verify submissions
  • Update candidate data in applicant tracking system
  • Assist with new hire onboarding
  • Prepare orientation materials for newly hired employees
  • Special assignments
  • Respond to phone & email inquiries
  • Make copies, scan & fax

About the Candidate:

  • 1+ years’ experience in human resources role (MUST)
  • BA or some college (PLUS)
  • Advanced software skills using Outlook/Word/Excel/Powerpoint (MUST)
  • Extensive knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws
  • Desired Personality Traits and Advanced Skills: high level leadership skills and experience, excellent grammar, ability to write clearly and concisely, strong interpersonal communication, ability to anticipate needs and problems, analyze and prioritize issues, attention to detail, organized, conflict/problem resolution, analytical, effective written and verbal communication
